My Phone Is Always Hungrier Than My Stomach
Look - I am one of those people. I'm talking about the worst type of people. Yes, that's correct.
I'm someone who posts photos of their meals.
WAIT - but it's not what you think. Okay, it's probably exactly what you think. But on the off chance it isn't, I'm going to take the time to defend my people really quick.
My passions in life for as long as I can remember have been food (that's a given) and photography. As the years have gone on, the passions have grown and developed even more. Photography developed into film (which became my major) and eventually transformed into a love for aesthetics and a constant search for the greatest visual experience I can have.
As for food, the older I got, the more adventurous I became. From trying gator in Savannah to shark in Trinidad, I became increasingly curious and experimental in the foods I sought out.
I am the friend that forces their friends to drive hours for food. I’m the friend that makes their friends send them photos of food. I became known as that food girl in many different circles.
One break I was out with some friends and we found a place that made pizzas bigger than we were. The photos we took were hilarious and I posted them on some social media of sorts and got so many replies. And it wasn't the first time my food pictures received a lot of attention either.
It was on that day I became a mother, and my baby was born - my food Instagram @covelloscuisine.
Ever since then, the food photos never stop.
And I know what you're imagining. You log onto Facebook and your great aunt has just posted her meal from Cracker Barrel off her Android with some of those knock-off emojis all over it.
Yeah - that is not me.
My Instagram as I mentioned is my baby. I care for that more than my life. I love it. But it's because I have finally found something that combines both my passions. Has it become a part of my personality? Yes. Do I live for it? Also yes.
As I traveled the world, I was able to document every meal I ate. Every major meal of importance or anything that I have wanted to go back to see I now have.
I have shared restaurants and given them more exposure. I have shown off my favorite and least favorite meals and gotten better at critiquing. I have improved my editing and photography skills overall, and for that, I'm so grateful.
In creating my account and being that person posting all those pictures of that food - I have further explored the options of food photography and food television as a real career choice.
So yes - I may be that person, but hopefully one day, I will be the person whose name is in the credits of the show you’re watching while your stomach growls at the food I discovered for you.
